Todoist For Android – Update

by Drew Dahl on Apr.05, 2010, under Projects, Todoist for Android

Well, I’m about 50% complete with the API Handler and I just created the login page. Granted, it doesn’t truly do anything just yet, but it still looks snazzy :3

Anyway, the login page is displayed to the right. Also, I’ve setup a trac installation. I encourage anyone who is interested to create an account and follow along. As soon as I have a working release, I’m going to put it up on there for beta testing purposes.

My plan as of right now, is to release Version 0.1 sometime in late April/early May. Version 0.1 will be a “read-only” version, and most likely not be very pretty. You’ll be able to log-in, view your projects, and view your tasks associated with those projects. Thus far, that’s my goal.

I think once summer starts, I should have no trouble rolling a lot of this code out, so I’m hoping for late May/early June as a possible release date for a “mostly” working app. Although, it’s probably too early to start throwing dates out. We’ll see ^_^

Anyway, the trac website is at: http://todoist.drewdahl.com/trac/

And finally, what you’ve all been waiting for… the latest image of Todoist For Android:

    Great project

I’ve just got my HTC Desire and cannot use todoist. I’ll have a look at your project over trac and perhaps i can help you to develop the app.

    keep it going!

Awesome. Love the enthusiasm about it!

Just a bit of an update on the status. Currently it’s at a bit of a stand still due to finals week approaching and my being swamped with final projects and the like.

Finals start next Thursday (one week from today) and go through the following week on Wednesday. Once they’re all over though, I’m going to hit this project hard and hopefully start rolling out some beta clients for everyone to test. (My real hope is that I’ll find time between now and finals being over to crank some code out though. Thus far, that’s looking promising)

Anyway, I’ll write more on the blog once I’ve got more code up!

I am realy looking forward to your ToDoIst app for Android. There is just not a better to-do application on the web availible. Its clean, easy to use end has just the right options. Afcourse we all have to wait patiently for you to finish the Android app, you have more things to do, but I hope as well that you can release a beta version soon! I would love to help testing.

    Good luck drewdahl!

I appreciate the heads up, Lesley! I also urge everyone to go check out TodoistDroid Lite from the Android Market. If you hate it, let me know why. If you love it, let me know why! I also made a point in my latest post (and update, found here: http://drewdahl.com/2010/06/16/todoist-for-android-update-feedback-appreciated/) that I would love to hear how everyone uses TODOIST. The reason for is, I wasn’t terribly pleased with the layout that TodoistDroid chose. While, I do have different projects, I rarely go into a specific project view as I prefer to see my tasks as a whole for the next week.

Again, thank you for all the feedback, and I hope to have that beta release done within two weeks!
